Top 5 Renovation mistakes

When undertaking a renovation, be sure you don't make any of these 5 common mistakes:

  1. DIY Designing – A professional designer can visualize the big picture and can create not only a beautiful space, but a functional space too.

  2. Busting the Budgets – Have an updated budget on a weekly basis as well as have all major costs tendered before starting the project.

  3. Poor Communication – Communication must flow freely between all parties involved (owner, contractor and designer).

  4. Lack of Planning – Understand each phase of the construction process and create a fair and equitable payment plan.

  5. Over Renovating – Stick to the original scope of work and not allow the renovation to grow to other areas of the home.

5 Home Security Tips

When undertaking a renovation, be sure you don't make any of these 5 common mistakes:

  1. Install exterior lighting.

  2. If you lose your keys, replace the locks as soon as possible.

  3. Don't leave notes for family or service people on the front door.

  4. Always lock your doors and windows as most burgleries only take about 5 minutes.

  5. Stop the mail and newspaper service while you are away.
